Turbans & More

Hands down our favorite two hair accessory trends for this winter are turbans and bowler hats. This was a follower send in from a beautiful girl who lives in London. She works at a super casual office and finds that wrapping her mother's vintage green silk scarf around her head ala Lawrence seriously ups her coolness factor all the while banishing bad hair days to seasons far away which are devoid of hair accessories!

We absolutely looove this and are going to be raiding our mother's collection of Hermes scarves (you remember when they use to sell Hermes scarves on airplanes in the 90's? hehe thankfully fathers always leave gift buying to the last minute so we are sure your mother has a stack hidden somewhere also!)

Shoesie Sunday!

YAYAYA time for Shoesy Sunday. But we have to be honest, after this Halloween weekend, it's like we sort of feel "meh" about regular clothes. Halloween is THE BEST FREAKING HOLIDAY IN THE WORLD. The fact that for one day you can wear whatever you WANT is just...insanely amazing. We propose that we make a monthly costume day, rather then "casual Friday" it should be "dress-up-like-a-pumpkin-if-you-want- to -Friday"! Oh how beautiful and colorful your day would be if rather then wearing slacks to work you put on furry pants and bunny ears. How much more productive if on the day of a cut throat meeting, you dressed up like a ninja assassin...and handed out your cards as if they were ninja stars. Can someone tell us WHY we dont do this, really just one good reason?

>sigh<
Well in conclusion here are so cute boots, shoes and a vintage clutch. That'll brighten up your day!

SPOTTED: Vintage Leopard Print Purses!

From Lady B (first image) to Random Cutie in LA (spotted in Downtown LA) we've been spotting loads of vintage leopard print bags (almost always suede or suede-esque)! Even our sister has snatched one from our mother's closet. We guarantee if you go rummaging around your mama's wardrobe you may find such a gem, I feel as though they were as much a staple in the 80's as leggings are today (oh wait and in the 80's). Speaking of which...we want Lady B's pants (alas from Hong Kong).

Kuwaiti Bags that will BLOW your mind!

Three Glorious Kuwaiti Architects have embarked on an excellent venture, called Experiment One (with the one written in arabic). Lovely architectural masterpieces, full of elegance, structure and bold design, using vintage material, scrap metal and custom laser cut leather. Our friend Sir N informed us about them, then we received these lovely pics in the mail via Little Hani. Such beautiful items and if all that highstreetq8 loves and appreciates of Kuwaiti style could be personified in a bag it would look these masterpieces!
Thank you all for the heads up and please check out their stuff on their facebook page:

Accessories

This is a classic case of "cool by association" .  We all know that  pairing highstreet finds with designer pieces  makes the highstreet finds look more expensive. But HIGHSTREETQ8 says that it also makes the high end stuff look cooler, more casual and updated. I mean anyone can pair a Birkin with some Loubi's ala Beckham. But pairing it was some carelessly cool Milano studded sandals and Velvet leggings? Or French Sole flats with a no name brand bag and Zara oversized peepers? That is Highstreet Heaven.

Freebies as Highstreet? Why Not?

So AG, has wowed Highstreet yet again. But this time with a rather snazzy lookin' watch. After further inquiry about said watch, Highstreet was shocked and amazed to find that it was an Emirates Air (freebie? gift from a stewdaress? Highstreet awaits the full story)
But paired with his rather preppy chic Massimo Dutti button down, we find this look as quircky as the man himself. Which in essence is what personal style is all about.

Good Job A.G
